A growing advertising agency needed to provide workspace for two new employees in an office that was already being used to at full capacity. The company’s conference room, located in the attic of their rented office, was the only place available for this expansion. Their need for this new workspace was immediate and
this project was conceived, documented and constructed in less than two weeks time.
The angled geometry of the existing roof was translated into a plan geometry that satisfied the tenants’ primary requirement that this project not “box-in” the existing conference room. The workspace is rotated away from the exterior walls and roof and employs a material palette that is unique to the building. The translucent polycarbonate panels allow light from the existing skylights to pass through them, and the office partitions attach to the existing building only at those points necessary to maintain its stability.
